
Sergi Roca Bru works internationally as a guest conductor and is engaged as 1st resident conductor (Kapellmeister) and substitute General Music Director at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater in Flensburg, Germany. His “fine musical intuition” and his “honest, uncompromising interpretations” characterize his style on the podium. Having conducted over 30 operas and operettas and numerous orchestras, he has acquired a broad repertoire in both symphonic and lyrical repertoire.

Since 2023, he has conducted Peter Grimes, The love for three oranges, La traviata, Sweeney Todd, The firebird and Der arme Jonathan as well as several concerts at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater.
In 2024 he made his debuts in Estonia - Tosca at the Saaremaa Opera Festival -, and Slovakia - Nabucco at the National Theater Košice.
In 2025, he debuted Rusalka at the Theater Osnabrück and Carmen at the Chemnitz Opera.
The production of the opera Tosca with Fundació Òpera a Catalunya caused a sensation in 2021. The premiere in Sabadell was followed by a tour, the highlight of which was a performance in the famous Palau de la Música Catalana concert hall in Barcelona. In 2023 and 2025, Roca Bru was invited again by this company as musical director for Madama Butterfly and Nabucco.
After conducting Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Sergi Roca Bru was engaged as 2nd Kapellmeister at Theater Kiel (2019-2023). There, in pandemic times, he took over the musical direction of Lucia di Lammermoor, The Jungle Book (WP), Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer, Sunset Boulevard and La vie Parisienne. He has also conducted numerous performances and revivals of Die Tote Stadt, Madama Butterfly, Manon Lescaut, Otello, Aida, Iolanta, Die Zauberflöte, La finta giardiniera, Il viaggio a Reims and Die Fledermaus. With the Kiel Ballet Ensemble he performed Le sacre du printemps, The Firebird and The Nutkracker.
Sergi Roca Bru has done concerts with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, the Orquesta Simfònica del Vallès, the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lübeck Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
Through his collaboration with youth orchestras such as the LJO Schleswig-Holstein, the LJO-Thüringen and the Orchesterakademie Kiel, he helps educating the young musicians generation.
During his studies he founded the Igor Ensemble and was conductor of the Collegium Musicum Weimar.
His first engagement was at the Theater Nordhausen as 2nd Kapellmeister and Head of Music (2014-2018). In this venue he conducted numerous music theater productions, including Nabucco, La Bohème, Die Fledermaus, Der Zarewitsch, Luisa Fernanda and Les Bringands, as well as ballet: Romeo and Juliet, Swan lake, The Nutkracker, The four seasons and Giselle.
He also took over the musical direction of The fiddler on the roof and La serva padrona at the Thüringer Schlossfestspiele Sondershausen.
Roca Bru was born in 1987 in Sabadell, near Barcelona. As a child, he learned to play the violin and the piano. He studied orchestral conducting at the Detmold University of Music with Prof. Bloemecke and at the renowned Institute for Conducting at the FRANZ LISZT University of Music in Weimar with M. L. Frank and Prof. Pasquet. Master classes with Karel Mark Chichon, Vittorio Parisi, and Gianlucca Gelmetti completed his musical education. Furthermore, he received advices from Kurt Masur, Martin Hoff, Gunter Kahlert and Ivan Törzs. ​

Sergi Roca Bru was awarded the DAAD Prize for outstanding achievements in 2014 for the production L'Elisir d'amore. In 2023, he received the second prize and a special prize at the 11th International Opera Conducting Competition "Luigi Mancinelli" in Orvieto.
